Physical Preparation

James Trevenen – Strength and Conditioning Coach

James was appointed Nunawading strength and conditioning coach in early 2023 and works predominately with the High Performance and National Open & Youth squads.

James is an ASCA Level 2 Strength and Conditioning Coach with over 5 years of experience in sport.
He has an abundance of industry experience, as he has and continues to carry out roles at Netball Victoria, Cricket Victoria, and Your Athlete Hub.

James has a Bachelor’s Degree in Exercise and Sport Science from Deakin University, as well as a Master’s Degree of Applied Sport Science.

James’ areas of focus include establishing physical qualities within the gym (including strength, power and muscular endurance) to transfer into the pool, building core strength and joint mobility/control, and holistic physical development to help keep swimmers healthy and compliment their training in the pool. He also implements exercise programs to manage injuries, return swimmers to regular training and maintain joint/tissue health based on physical assessments from other support staff. He also assists and implements dry-land conditioning and circuit training at the club.

 

Physiotherapy

Nunawading Swimming Club has a long term partnership with PhysioHealth, one of Victoria and Australia’s leading physiotherapy and massage service organisations since 2003. PhysioHealth has clinics based at Mt Waverley and Kew.

PhysioHealth staff have a very strong background in swimming and providing the appropriate support for swimmers around their training and racing schedules. Many of the PhysioHealth staff work with the Victorian Institute of Sport and have been members of the Australian Swimming Team as masseurs and physiotherapists.Nunawading Swimming Club continues to work closely with PhysioHealth for all your physiotherapy and massage needs.

Nutritionist

Bronze Level Swim Coach

Bec is a Clinical Nutritionist and gym instructor. She is a strong believer in food as medicine and is passionate about all areas of nutrition, but especially sports nutrition.

As a former Nunawading national-level swimmer, a recreational athlete & runner, and a swimming coach, Bec has been involved in high-level sport for the last 20 years. She now focuses on using nutrition to optimise athletes’ performance, recovery, and immune health.

Bec currently operates out of clinics in Hawthorn and Hampton, working with state, national and Olympic athletes.

Sports Psychology

Megan Davis

Megan has assisted many Club swimmers over the years in the area of sport psychology.  Megan is a practising sport psychologist and works with individual athletes whilst also providing educational sessions from time to time with different squads or groups of swimmers.

As a former National level swimmer (and National Age Gold Medallist), Megan has a strong understanding of the the sport and everything that goes with it.
