VIS Nutrition Tip #10 – Quick Tips

Fast food doesn’t have to be unhealthy, as we have learnt from Jamie’s 15 minute meals.  So whether you are eating on the run or short on time here’s some ideas to keep your body in good shape.

Firstly, plan your meals for the week and shop ahead. If it’s in the cupboard it’s ready to go; time and money isn’t wasted finding cafes or hitting up the supermarket.

Pack foods in an esky with a freezer block, or freeze foods like yoghurt or your leftovers for lunch to keep them safe. Fill an insulated lunch box with a pile of quality snacks if you have nothing ready for lunch like a few pieces of fruit, yoghurt, a muesli bar and some nuts.

For dinner you could cook in bulk for those busy nights, use 90 second rice sachets and whip up a stir-fry, or pile some meat and vegies onto pita bread for a pizza, and don’t forget there’s nothing wrong with some baked beans on wholemeal toast in desperation.
