State Age Squads

The State Age Squad program provided the stepping stone between the satellite based programs and the age group (Armstrong, Nuna Youth and National Age Development) programs.
The State Age squad is designed to assist athletes towards achieving State qualifying times in an environment that builds upon the competitive technique and skills developed in the Hanson and Junior squads. In addition to this, participants will also begin to develop their endurance and speed endurance capabilities in preparation for successful transition into higher level squads.

Swimmers in State Age will primarily be between 10 and 13 years of age with a proven track record of participation in competitive swimming.
Swimmers initially commence training at 4 sessions per week, before building up to 5 sessions within their first year in the squad at the discretion of the coach, based on age, ability and attitude.

State Age Squads are run within the Wesley and Tintern satellite programs

COMMUNICATION

Two of the most important aspects of being involved in the Nunawading Swimming Club is good communication between the coach, swimmer and parents and the effective distribution of information to families by the coach and the club.

Regular meetings will be held for each squad where the coach will provide information including competition schedules to parents and swimmers.

If a swimmer or parent has any questions or concerns, they are asked to speak to their coach.  If after working through the issue there is still a problem, they are asked to contact the Head Coach, Dean Bryant at dean.bryant@nunawadingswimmingclub.com

The Club has a number of ways of communicating with you.

Nuna News – Every family is required to subscribe to the “Nuna News” email service.  Parents and swimmers can subscribe HERE.

Squad Training Fees 2016/17 season

State Age squad training fee: $150.00 (GST inclusive) per month

For swimmers in the State Age Squads, participation in the squad system is considered to be an annual involvement; therefore the total fees for the year have been averaged out to produce the monthly amount with the same monthly fee payable for all 12 months of the year.
Fees will be charged regardless of a swimmers attendance with the exception of prolonged absences of more than 2 weeks through injury, illness or family commitments (see below for more info).

Squad fees provide swimmers with coach instruction at training and competition, dryland and/or strength & conditioning instruction depending on age and pool entry and/or lease fees at all training venues.
The squad fees are heavily subsidised by our Just Swimming learn to swim program

Preferred method of payment for the State Age Squads is via direct debit. Please fill in the direct debit request form and return to finance@nunawadingswimmingclub.com

Adjustments to Squad Accounts

If a swimmer suffers any serious injuries or illnesses, eg fractured limbs or glandular fever, which necessitate a prolonged absence from training of more than 2 weeks, consideration may be given to adjusting the account in the following month.
If your squad account needs adjustment, or there is a problem with the account, please complete the Squad Fee Adjustment form and return it to the NSC Finance Manager, Louise Martin. Louise will work through any adjustments with you.

In general all charges will stand and any corrections will be made in the following month.
