National & High Performance Squads

National Squad Coach: Dean Bryant- Dean.Bryant@nunawadingswimmingclub.com
High Performance & National Squad Coach: Scott Talbot: Scott.Talbot@nunawadingswimmingclub.com

The National Squad assists swimmers who are fully committed to achieving the highest possible performance at the Australian Age and Open Championships with the view of making Australian Open and Youth teams. The National Squad caters for athletes aged primarily 14 years and over with athletes training 7-10 pool and 2-3 dryland sessions per week. Individual requirements are determined by the Head Coach and High Performance Coach based on age, personal goals/aspirations, background and ability.

The High Performance Squad is a selection based squad which provides an opportunity for athletes to prepare for competition at the highest levels in our sport.

Athletes in the High Performance Squad must be fully committed to the preparation for these major international competitions, and be prepared to work with the High Performance Coach to establish a specific training and competition plan which will give the best possible opportunity to perform at the pinnacle competitions throughout the 4-year cycle.

ACCOUNTS

Squad Training Fees 2016/17 season

Fees for the National Squad will be confirmed on acceptance of a place in the squad

Participation in the squad system is considered to be an annual involvement; therefore the total fees for the year have been averaged out to produce the monthly amount, with the same monthly fee being payable for all 12 months of the year.
Fees will be charged regardless of a swimmers attendance with the exception of prolonged absences of more than 2 weeks through injury, illness or family commitments (see below for more info).

Squad fees provide swimmers with coach instruction at training and competition, dryland and/or strength & conditioning instruction depending on age and pool entry and/or lease fees at all training venues.
The squad fees are heavily subsidised by our Just Swimming learn to swim program

Preferred method of payment for families in the National Squad is via direct debit. Please fill in the direct debit request form and return to finance@nunawadingswimmingclub.com

Adjustments to Squad Accounts

If a swimmer suffers any serious injuries or illnesses, eg fractured limbs or glandular fever, which necessitate a prolonged absence from training of more than 2 weeks, consideration may be given to adjusting the account in the following month.

If your squad account needs adjustment, or there is a problem with the account, please complete the Squad Fee Adjustment form,  and return it to the NSC Finance Officer, Louise Martin. Louise will work through any adjustments with you.

In general all charges will stand and any corrections will be made in the following month.

Year 12 Students

Nunawading Swimming Club is committed to working with Year 12 students to ensure they can continue their swimming and study through Year 12. While coaches will work with the athletes on individual plans, the Club also offers a discounted fee for Year 12 students.

Students completing Year 12 over one year will receive a discount of 30% on their monthly fee from February to November in the Year they complete Year 12.
Students completing Year 12 over two years will receive a discount of 15% on their monthly fee from February to November over the two years.

EQUIPMENT

The equipment swimmers will require are flippers, goggles (plus a spare pair), kickboard, pool buoy, paddles, band, swim costume & cap. We ask swimmers to be at training 15min prior to the commencement time, so they can complete the required dryland activities and be ready to dive in on time.

COMPETITIONS

When swimmers represent the club at swim meets, and compete against members from other clubs, it is a requirement to wear our club uniform.  The uniform consists of:

  • Club polo shirt
  • Club Tracksuit top and pants
