2017 Victorian Sprint Championships

Some of the Nuna swimmers in action over the weekend

The 2017 Victorian Sprint Championships were held at MSAC over the weekend.

Nunawading had a fantastic representation with 127 athletes competing in the fast and furious event, with the fastest 10 swimmers in each age group in the four 50m events moving through to the finals on Sunday.

The team had a great meet picking up 10 gold, 13 silver and 10 bronze medals in individual events, as well as a gold and silver in the 16 and Under 5×50 relays.

Jamison Morgan who proved his dominance in the 11 and under age group was a stand out performer of the meet, winning Gold in the Boys 11 and Under 50 Freestyle, 50 Backstroke and 50 Butterfly.
Yanning Zhang also showed how it was done, taking Gold in the boys 12yrs 50 Backstroke, Silver in the 50 Butterfly and Freestyle and Bronze in the 50 Breaststroke.

Kayla Costa, Alex Kirchner, Andrea Chow, Nathan Tran, Hayden Llewellyn, Brendon Smith, and Stephanie Moore were also multiple medal winners in the day.

Well done to all Nunawading athletes who competed and a big thank you to the coaches, team managers, officials and timekeepers for all of your help at the meet.

Attention now turns to National Age and Opens and All Junior preparations as the major events for all squads.
